DRIVING WITH THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT FOR HIRING
What do I need to drive a go-kart/rental kart?
Here we've gathered the equipment you need to take your rental karting to the next level. To perform at your best, you need the right equipment. Rental karting is fast considering the small track and fast curves.
At a minimum, you need a helmet, neck protection, gloves - then it becomes more comfortable and you can take more in the curves with a good rib protector.
Helmet
When you think of a helmet for Rental Karting, it is usually available to borrow at the track, but before you have put on the helmet, 1000 people before you have worn the same helmet and sweated and breathed in that helmet. So if you're going to be racing at the next level, I strongly recommend that you have your own helmet. Even if you have your own helmet, you should also have a protective balaclava that becomes a layer between your head and the helmet that absorbs your sweat.
Neck protection
Neck protection is important in karting, at the slightest collision your head with the 1.5 kg helmet is exposed to very high forces. A neck guard stops the movement of the helmet and you can avoid whiplash injuries. We have neck protectors adapted for both children and adults from Sparc, EVS and Alpinestars.
Rib protectors for karting
Lateral forces should not be underestimated and even after the first race, your ribs may hurt and you may not be able to continue driving. This can be prevented by using a good rib protector that protects your ribs against the edge of the chair. It is important to protect yourself beforehand because once it starts to hurt, it is difficult to drive.
We have rib protectors in several different price ranges and for renters like us we can recommend
Gloves for rental karting
The grip on the steering wheel of the rental kart is important, with the right gloves you get the right feeling. The gloves we show here are karting gloves with silicone grips that make the steering wheel sit firmly in the hand. Sparco Rush, which is the entry-level glove and our best-selling, is available in many colors. Sparco Arrow is a more premium glove that has the seams on the outside which means that it does not chafe on the inside. The stylish gloves convey the F1 feeling with the Sparco logos.
Suits for rental karting
A protective racing suit is not mandatory when it comes to renting a kart, but it is a good thing. It protects your clothes from dirt and wear and tear on the go-kart seat. It's also very comfortable to drive in as it's a flexible material that allows you to have full mobility in the kart. Once you have been bitten by the go-kart, you will probably want to try driving a racing kart and then you can use the same overalls for that. So invest in a good overall and you have it for the future.
Karting shoes
Shoes are one of the most important pieces of a karting driver's equipment - on a karting track, it's with real toe feel that you apply the gas and brake and this is where the 1/100 parts come into play. A shoe should fit tight with a thin sole to give you that feeling. Below we've picked out some examples of shoes that would suit you. We've also included three models that you can wear when you go out on the town, look at the S-Drive, SL-17 and the iconic Puma Speedcat.
